Why the FAB Etihad Guest Platinum Credit Card ranks where it does
The FAB Etihad Guest Platinum is FAB's entry-level airline card, and it only makes sense for people who fly Etihad or its partners. For AED 525 a year including VAT, it earns 2 Etihad Guest Miles per AED 10 on domestic spend, 3.5 on non-AED international spend and 4 with Etihad and its partners. The salary bar is AED 8,000 a month.
The optional Miles Accelerator is the interesting part. For AED 250 a month it raises earning to 5.5 miles per AED 10 on all purchases, so it is worth switching on only in months with large spending, such as when paying for a holiday. On domestic spend the accelerator buys 3.5 extra miles per AED 10, so you are effectively paying for miles; whether that is sensible depends on how you value an Etihad Guest mile.
The rest is thin. No airport lounge access is listed on the product page, the finance charge is 3.99% a month, and the foreign currency fee is up to 2.61% plus VAT and card scheme charges. Smaller extras include two intracity airport transfers a year at AED 40 per ride, discounted cinema tickets and a 25% miles discount voucher on AED 100,000 of annual spend.
Good fit if
- Regular Etihad flyers based in the UAE
- People with occasional large purchases who can use the accelerator
- Salaried residents from AED 8,000 who want an entry-level airline card
Skip it if
- Anyone who flies mostly with other airlines
- Travellers who want lounge access
Assume AED 10,000 of domestic spend in a normal month. The card earns 10,000 ÷ 10 × 2 = 2,000 miles. With the accelerator on, it earns 10,000 ÷ 10 × 5.5 = 5,500 miles, 3,500 more, for AED 250. That means the accelerator costs AED 250 ÷ 3,500, about AED 0.071 per extra mile. We do not assign a value to an Etihad Guest mile here; compare that cost with what you would otherwise pay for the flight you want. The AED 525 fee applies either way.
How it stacks up
The Emirates NBD Skywards Signature is the Emirates-side equivalent, with lounge access through the Visa Airport Companion app but a higher first-year cost because of its joining fee. The Liv Cashback+ lets you redeem as cash or Skywards Miles, which suits travellers who are not tied to one airline. Choose the FAB card only if Etihad is your default airline.
The FAB Etihad Guest Platinum Credit Card is FAB's entry-level Etihad Guest card, earning miles on every purchase for a fee of AED 525 a year. Figures are as of September 2026.
