Why the Mashreq Cashback Credit Card ranks where it does
The Mashreq Cashback card is a free-for-life card with one strong category: 5% on dining, local and international, including online food delivery. Everything else is plain, 1% on other spends in the UAE and 1% on other international spends, with a fraction of a percent on government payments, utilities, education, fuel, rent and telecom. There is no minimum spend to earn and no annual fee on primary or supplementary cards.
Mashreq's own documents disagree on that lowest rate. Its product page says 0.15% on government, utility, fuel and similar payments, while the May 2026 key facts sheet says 0.33%; either way, those payments add almost nothing. Cashback can be redeemed once it reaches AED 100 and stays valid for 36 months, so small balances are not lost quickly.
The card does not list lounge access, and international transactions carry a 2.89% spread, which is larger than the 1% earned on them. That makes it a domestic card for households who eat out or order food often and want no fee to worry about. The minimum salary is AED 5,000, one of the lower bars in the UAE.
Good fit if
- Households that spend heavily on restaurants and food delivery
- Anyone who wants a card with no annual fee in any year
- Residents with a salary from AED 5,000 a month
Skip it if
- People who spend often in foreign currencies, given the 2.89% spread
- Travellers who want lounge access
Assume AED 1,500 a month on dining and delivery, AED 4,000 on other UAE spends and AED 1,000 on utilities and fuel. Dining earns 5%, or AED 75; other spends 1%, or AED 40; utilities and fuel 0.15%, AED 1.50, using the lower of Mashreq's two published rates to stay conservative. That is AED 116.50 a month, about AED 1,398 a year, with no fee to subtract. The AED 100 redemption minimum is reached within the first month.
How it stacks up
The FAB Cashback pays 5% on dining, groceries and fashion, each capped at AED 150 a month, and 3% abroad, but charges an AED 300 fee and needs AED 3,000 of spend the month before. The Liv Cashback is also free for life and pays up to 2% on all spend, which beats Mashreq for people who do not eat out much.
The Mashreq Cashback Credit Card pays unlimited cashback on everyday spending with no annual fee for life and 5% back on dining, making it a standout value card in the UAE.
