Our verdict

Why the HDFC Regalia Gold Credit Card ranks where it does

Regalia Gold is a fair mid-tier card whose value now comes more from vouchers and lounge visits than from its points. The fee is ₹2,500 plus taxes, waived at ₹4 lakh a year, and HDFC adds a ₹1,500 Myntra or Nykaa voucher for each quarter with ₹1.5 lakh of spend and ₹5,000 of flight vouchers on ₹5 lakh a year. Points earn 5X at Myntra, Nykaa, Reliance Digital and Marks & Spencer, capped at 5,000 bonus points a month.

The base earn is harder to pin down. HDFC's product page states 5 Reward Points per ₹200 on retail spends while its savings calculator still refers to 4 points; either way the rate is about 2.5 points per ₹100, and products and vouchers redeem at up to ₹0.20 a point. That makes ordinary spending worth roughly 0.5% unless you redeem for travel.

Lounge access now depends on spending: three domestic visits a quarter need ₹60,000 of spend in the previous quarter, plus six Priority Pass visits abroad a year. With a 2% forex markup it also works as a travel card. It suits people spending ₹4 to 6 lakh a year who will use the vouchers.

Good fit if

  • People spending ₹4 lakh to ₹6 lakh a year on one card
  • Myntra, Nykaa and Reliance Digital shoppers who can use the 5X rate
  • Occasional international travellers who want Priority Pass visits and a 2% markup

Skip it if

  • Anyone spending under ₹60,000 a quarter who wants domestic lounge access
  • People who redeem points only for products or statement credit
Worked example

Assume ₹5 lakh of retail spend in a year, spread evenly, so no quarter reaches ₹1.5 lakh. At 5 points per ₹200 that earns 5,00,000 ÷ 200 × 5 = 12,500 points. Valued at ₹0.20, the product-and-voucher rate HDFC lists and our conservative figure, they are worth ₹2,500. The ₹5 lakh annual milestone adds ₹5,000 in flight vouchers, and spend above ₹4 lakh waives the ₹2,500 fee. The total comes to about ₹7,500 a year, or 1.5% of spend.

How it stacks up

The HDFC Diners Club Black Metal costs four times as much but values points at ₹1 on SmartBuy travel and adds unlimited lounge access, so it wins once spending passes about ₹8 lakh a year. The SBI Card ELITE is the closest rival at a similar level, with a welcome voucher and movie benefits aimed at families rather than shoppers.

A well-rounded premium-lite travel and lifestyle card. You get accelerated rewards at Marks & Spencer, Myntra, Reliance Digital and more, plus spend-based domestic lounge visits and Priority Pass visits abroad. A solid step up from entry-level cards without a punishing fee.
