The best credit card for movie tickets is the PVR INOX Kotak if you watch at PVR or INOX: a free ticket worth up to ₹300 for every ₹10,000 spent in a billing cycle, plus 5% off tickets and 20% off food, for ₹499 a year. For BookMyShow, the RBL Play card gives ₹500 off monthly on ₹5,000 spend. Nearly every movie offer now carries a spend condition, so the right card depends on how much you already put on it each month. Rankings below are as of September 2026.

Which credit card gives free movie tickets in India?

Three kinds of movie benefit exist, and they suit different people:

  • Free tickets tied to spend. You earn a ticket or voucher after spending a set amount. The PVR INOX Kotak card works this way.
  • Monthly discounts on a booking app. A fixed rupee or percentage discount on BookMyShow or District, usually twice a month. ICICI, RBL, IDFC FIRST and Axis cards use this model.
  • Accelerated rewards on ticket spends. Cashback or bonus points when you book through a partner, with no free ticket as such. The HDFC Millennia, for example, pays 5% cashback on BookMyShow as one of its ten partner merchants.

The big change since 2025 is that most discounts are now locked behind spending. ICICI made BookMyShow benefits conditional on ₹25,000 of spend in the previous calendar quarter from April 2026. Axis will require ₹25,000 in the previous three months for My Zone's District offer from 1 November 2026. IDFC FIRST's Select card asks for ₹20,000 in the previous month. If your card spend is low, a free-ticket card that you can actually unlock beats a bigger discount you cannot.

PVR INOX Kotak: best for PVR and INOX regulars

This is the only card built around one cinema chain. Kotak gives one PVR INOX ticket, as a coupon worth up to ₹300, for every ₹10,000 you spend in a monthly billing cycle, and the coupon is valid for 60 days. On top of that you get 5% off tickets and 20% off food and drinks every time you pay with the card at PVR INOX. There is no joining fee, the annual fee is ₹499 plus GST, and Kotak lists no spend-based waiver.

The catch is the spend trigger: the ticket comes from total card spend, not movie spend. If you do not put ₹10,000 a month on this card, you get only the percentage discounts. Kotak lists an age range of 21 to 60 for applicants, and add-on cardholders must be 18 or over.

Best credit card for BookMyShow offers

The RBL Play card gives a ₹500 BookMyShow discount each month when you spend ₹5,000 in the billing cycle. Its ₹500 + GST fee is waived if you spend ₹1.5 lakh in a year. RBL's older BookMyShow Popcorn card was transitioned from 20 December 2025, so new applicants should look at Play.

ICICI's cards are the other main route. The Coral gives 25% off up to ₹100, twice a month. Rubyx raises that to ₹150. The Sapphiro offers up to ₹500 off the second ticket, twice a month. All of them now require ₹25,000 of card spend in the previous calendar quarter to unlock the next quarter's movie benefit.

The SBI Card ELITE has long been sold on its movie benefit: SBI's ELITE terms booklet describes ₹500 off or the cost of two tickets on BookMyShow, whichever is lower, for up to two tickets a month. That booklet predates recent revisions, and we could not confirm the benefit on a current SBI Card page, so check it in the SBI Card app before you choose ELITE for movies. Its ₹4,999 fee only makes sense if you also use its Priority Pass and 1.99% forex markup.

Movie offers on mid-range and premium cards

If you want a card that does more than movies, several all-rounders include a monthly discount. ICICI Rubyx gives 25% off up to ₹150, twice a month, for a ₹2,000 plus GST annual fee waived on ₹3 lakh, subject to the same ₹25,000 quarterly spend condition as other ICICI cards. IDFC FIRST Wealth, which is lifetime free, gives ₹250 off twice a month after its 2024 revision. IDFC FIRST Millennia, also lifetime free, gives 25% off up to ₹100 once a month. At full use these are worth between ₹1,200 and ₹6,000 a year: not enough to beat a dedicated card for a weekly moviegoer, but useful if you already hold one of them.

How much can you really save? A worked example

Assume you watch two films a month with one companion, so four tickets at ₹400 each, or ₹1,600 a month, and the fees below include 18% GST.

  1. PVR INOX Kotak, assuming ₹10,000 of card spend every cycle: 12 free tickets a year at up to ₹300 = ₹3,600. The other 36 tickets at 5% off: 36 × ₹400 × 5% = ₹720. Total ₹4,320, minus the ₹589 fee = about ₹3,731 a year, plus 20% off food.
  2. RBL Play, assuming ₹5,000 of card spend every cycle: ₹500 × 12 = ₹6,000. Your yearly spend of ₹60,000 is below the ₹1.5 lakh waiver, so subtract ₹590 = about ₹5,410 a year, provided you use the full ₹500 each month.
  3. ICICI Coral, assuming you meet ₹25,000 a quarter: two discounts a month at 25% of ₹400 = ₹100 each, so ₹200 × 12 = ₹2,400. Your ₹1 lakh of yearly spend is below the ₹1.5 lakh waiver, so subtract ₹590 = about ₹1,810 a year.
  4. IDFC FIRST Select, assuming ₹20,000 spend every month: two buy-one-get-one offers a month worth up to ₹125 each = ₹250 × 12 = ₹3,000 a year, with no fee.

On these assumptions the order is RBL Play, PVR INOX Kotak, IDFC FIRST Select, then ICICI Coral. Change the inputs and the order changes: if you watch only at PVR and eat at the cinema, Kotak's 20% off food can outweigh the rest, and if you already spend ₹20,000 a month, IDFC FIRST Select earns its keep at no cost.

Cards that reward movie spends without a ticket offer

If you watch a film every few months, a dedicated movie card is not worth a fee. A general card that rewards the booking is simpler. The SBI SimplyCLICK lists BookMyShow among its 10X partners, capped at 10,000 bonus points a month. The Airtel Axis card pays 10% on District Movies into the partner wallet, up to ₹200 a month, after its April 2026 revision. How to choose a movie credit card

  1. Start with where you watch. One chain points to PVR INOX Kotak; mixed cinemas point to a BookMyShow or District card.
  2. Check the spend condition against your real spend. A ₹500 discount that needs ₹5,000 a month is easier to use than one that needs ₹25,000 a quarter on a card you rarely use.
  3. Count the cap, not the headline. "Buy one get one" usually means up to ₹100 to ₹500 off, twice a month.
  4. Subtract the fee with GST. A ₹499 fee costs ₹589 after 18% GST.
  5. Book through the right channel. Offers usually apply only on the named app or at the chain's own counters and site.
  6. Re-check the terms every year. RBL moved Popcorn cardholders to a new card in December 2025, and ICICI and Axis added spend conditions in 2026.

Frequently asked questions

Which credit card gives free movie tickets every month?

The PVR INOX Kotak card gives one PVR INOX ticket, worth up to ₹300, for every ₹10,000 you spend in a billing cycle, so a steady ₹10,000 a month earns a ticket each month. RBL Play gives ₹500 off on BookMyShow each month on ₹5,000 spend. Both depend on total card spend, not just movie bookings, as of September 2026.

Is the ICICI Coral BookMyShow offer still available?

Yes, but with a condition. The Coral gives 25% off up to ₹100 per booking on BookMyShow, twice a month. From April 2026, ICICI requires ₹25,000 of card spend in the previous calendar quarter to unlock the next quarter's movie benefits. If you spend less than that on the card, you will not get the discount.

Which is better for movies: PVR INOX Kotak or a BookMyShow card?

If you mostly watch at PVR or INOX and buy food there, the Kotak card is better, because it adds 5% off tickets and 20% off food on top of free tickets. If you watch at different cinemas, a BookMyShow card such as RBL Play is more flexible. Compare the spend each card needs to unlock its benefit against what you really spend.

Do lifetime free cards give movie offers?

Some do. IDFC FIRST Select is lifetime free and offers buy-one-get-one up to ₹125, twice a month, after you spend ₹20,000 in the previous month. IDFC FIRST Millennia, also lifetime free, gives 25% off up to ₹100 once a month. These suit people who already use one card for most spending.

Can I use a movie card offer on UPI or other apps?

Usually not. Movie offers apply only when you pay with the card on the named platform, such as BookMyShow, District or the PVR INOX app and counters. Paying through UPI, a wallet or a different booking site normally does not count. Check the offer terms in your card app before booking, since platforms and caps change.
