For unlimited lounge access in India, HDFC Infinia and Diners Club Black Metal remain the strongest, with no published spend condition for the primary cardholder. On a mid-range budget, HSBC TravelOne gives 6 domestic and 4 international visits a year for ₹4,999, and Scapia Federal gives unlimited domestic visits free once you spend ₹20,000 a month. Almost every other card now links lounge visits to what you spent in the previous month or quarter. The rules below are as of September 2026; check your card app before each trip.
Which credit cards still give free lounge access in India?
Between 2024 and 2026, Indian issuers moved lounge access from a fixed perk to a reward for spending. The main changes:
- ICICI Bank: from 1 January 2025, domestic lounge access on most cards needs ₹75,000 of spend in a calendar quarter to unlock the next quarter.
- Axis Bank: from 1 May 2024, cards such as ACE and Magnus need ₹50,000 of spend in the previous three calendar months for domestic lounges. The Flipkart Axis and Airtel Axis cards dropped lounge access altogether.
- HDFC Bank: Regalia Gold needs ₹60,000 in the previous quarter for domestic visits from July 2026. Millennia no longer has a standalone lounge benefit; a lounge voucher is one choice when you spend ₹1 lakh in a quarter.
- American Express: Amex says it is temporarily pausing new card applications in India, so its Platinum Travel card is not an option for new applicants right now.
The practical upshot: before you pick a card for lounges, check whether you will actually meet its spend condition, not just how many visits it advertises.

Best credit card for unlimited lounge access in India
The HDFC Infinia Metal gives unlimited domestic lounge access by card swipe and unlimited international access through Priority Pass, for the primary and add-on cardholders, though each add-on needs its own Priority Pass. Guests are charged USD 27 plus GST per visit, and Visa cards are charged ₹2 per visit to verify the card. It is invite only, and the ₹12,500 fee is waived only on ₹10 lakh of annual spend.
The Diners Club Black Metal is the version most people can apply for. It offers unlimited access at over 1,300 lounges in India and abroad by card swipe, for primary and add-on members, for ₹10,000 plus GST, waived on ₹8 lakh. HDFC lists a salaried income requirement of over ₹2.5 lakh a month. The trade-off is Diners Club acceptance, which is narrower than Visa or Mastercard at smaller merchants.
Best lounge credit card under ₹5,000 a year
HSBC TravelOne is the simplest mid-range option: 6 domestic and 4 international visits a year with no spend condition on HSBC's product page, 4 reward points per ₹100 on flights, travel aggregators and foreign-currency spends, and points that convert 1:1 to air miles. The ₹4,999 fee is waived on ₹8 lakh a year, and HSBC asks for ₹6 lakh of annual salaried income.
Axis Atlas gives 8 domestic and 4 international visits at its Silver tier, rising to 12 and 6 at Gold (₹7.5 lakh annual spend) and 18 and 12 at Platinum (₹15 lakh). Guests count toward the total. One caution: an August 2026 version of Axis's Atlas terms says the international lounge programme is "under maintenance", so confirm with Axis before relying on the international visits.
HDFC Regalia Gold costs less, ₹2,500 plus GST, and keeps 6 international Priority Pass visits a year with no spend condition. Its 3 domestic visits a quarter need ₹60,000 of spend in the previous quarter from July 2026.
Free credit cards with lounge access
If you do not want to pay a fee, three cards stand out, all with spend conditions:
- Scapia Federal Bank: lifetime free, 0% forex markup, and unlimited domestic lounge access in any month after you spend ₹20,000 in the preceding month.
- IDFC FIRST Wealth: lifetime free, 1 domestic and 1 international airport lounge visit a quarter from 1 April 2026, unlocked by spending ₹20,000 in a calendar month for use the next month.
- IDFC FIRST Select: lifetime free, 1 domestic lounge visit a quarter after ₹20,000 spend in the previous month.
Low-fee cards can work too. ICICI Coral (₹500 plus GST) gives one domestic visit a quarter after ₹75,000 of prior-quarter spend, and Axis ACE (₹499) keeps lounge access for cardholders who spend ₹50,000 in the previous three months. HDFC Millennia lets you pick a domestic lounge voucher instead of a ₹1,000 voucher when you spend ₹1 lakh in a quarter.
Railway lounge access on credit cards
Some cards also cover railway station lounges, which helps if you often travel by train. ICICI Coral gives one railway lounge visit a quarter and Rubyx two a quarter. IDFC FIRST Millennia, which has no airport lounge benefit, includes four railway lounge visits a quarter, unlocked by spending ₹20,000 in the previous calendar month, and IDFC FIRST Select gives four a quarter after ₹20,000 of spend in the previous month. Check which stations are covered in your card's terms before you rely on it.
Does Priority Pass work at Indian airports?
Often not for free. Standard Chartered says its Priority Pass gives no complimentary visits in India. SBI Card charges Priority Pass visits inside India at up to USD 27 plus tax on ELITE and PRIME. From 28 August 2026, Axis says Magnus holders must show the Magnus card, not Priority Pass, at domestic lounges. For Indian airports you need a card with its own domestic lounge benefit, used by swiping the card at the lounge. For how the networks work, read our explainer on airport lounge access.
Is a lounge card worth the fee? A worked example
Assume you take four return domestic flights a year (8 departures), and that a lounge visit saves you about ₹800 you would otherwise spend on airport food. Fees include 18% GST where the issuer charges it.
- HDFC Regalia Gold: 8 visits × ₹800 = ₹6,400 of value, against a ₹2,950 fee, but only if you spend ₹60,000 in each quarter before you fly. That is ₹2.4 lakh a year, below the ₹4 lakh waiver, so you pay the fee.
- HSBC TravelOne: only 6 of your 8 departures are covered, so 6 × ₹800 = ₹4,800 of domestic value, against a ₹4,999 fee plus GST. The card pays off only if you also use the 4 international visits or its travel rewards.
- Scapia Federal: 8 × ₹800 = ₹6,400 with no fee, provided you spend ₹20,000 in the month before each trip.
On these assumptions, a free card with a spend condition you already meet beats a paid card. The paid cards win when you fly internationally or need guaranteed access without tracking spend.
How to make sure your lounge access works
- Check the spend tracker in your card app a week before you fly, because most conditions look at the previous month or quarter.
- Confirm the lounge is on your card's list. SBI and HDFC publish specific lounge lists that change during the year.
- Carry the physical card or a card on your phone that the lounge accepts, plus your boarding pass. A small verification charge, such as ₹2, may be taken.
- Check add-on and guest rules. Some cards count guests toward your total or require each add-on to meet the spend condition separately.

Frequently asked questions
Which credit card gives unlimited lounge access in India?
As of September 2026, HDFC Infinia Metal and HDFC Diners Club Black Metal give unlimited domestic and international lounge access for primary and add-on cardholders, with no published spend condition. Scapia Federal Bank gives unlimited domestic access at no fee, but only in months after you spend ₹20,000 in the preceding month.
Which free credit card has airport lounge access?
Scapia Federal Bank is lifetime free with unlimited domestic lounge access after ₹20,000 of spend in the previous month. IDFC FIRST Wealth is lifetime free with 1 domestic and 1 international airport visit a quarter after ₹20,000 in a month, and IDFC FIRST Select gives 1 domestic visit a quarter on the same condition.
Why was my credit card declined at the airport lounge?
The usual reason is an unmet spend condition, such as ₹75,000 in the previous quarter on ICICI cards or ₹50,000 in the previous three months on Axis cards. Other causes are using all your quarterly visits, a lounge not on your card's list, or trying Priority Pass at an Indian lounge where it is not free.
Can I take a guest into the lounge with my credit card?
Usually at a cost. HDFC charges USD 27 plus GST per guest on Infinia, and on Axis Atlas guest visits count toward your total. Most mid-range cards cover only the primary cardholder, and add-on cardholders may need to meet the spend condition separately. Check the guest rule in your card terms before you travel.
Is Priority Pass free at Indian airports?
Often not. Standard Chartered says its Priority Pass gives no free visits in India, and SBI Card charges Priority Pass visits in India on ELITE and PRIME. Axis asks Magnus holders to use the card itself at domestic lounges from 28 August 2026. For Indian airports, rely on your card's own domestic lounge benefit.
Does the HDFC Millennia card still give lounge access?
Not as a standalone benefit. As of September 2026, HDFC folds it into a quarterly milestone: spend ₹1 lakh in a calendar quarter and you can choose either a ₹1,000 voucher or one domestic lounge voucher. If you fly often and spend less than that, a card with a lower spend condition will serve you better.
